New Associate Minister for Emergency Management & Recovery Announced.

The Government has announced funding through Budget 2026 to support the National Emergency Management Agency to deliver modern technology systems for the emergency management sector.
The Emergency Management Sector Operational Systems Programme (EMS-OS) is a once in a generation opportunity to significantly uplift the supporting operational technology systems for the emergency management sector.
EMS-OS will provide modern operational technology to support readiness, response, and recovery, including improved tools, data, workflows, and shared situational awareness.
EMS-OS will deliver four key technology solutions:
- Sector foundational data platform that consolidates key national, regional, and local datasets
- Sector data and visualisation tool (Common Operating Picture) – providing real-time insights and enhanced situational awareness
- Operational tools for emergency management personnel to task, collaborate, and manage resources during response and recovery
- Upgrade to the National Warning System for timely, accessible alerts to the public.
